THIS STUDY IS NOW COMPLETE. NOTES ON FINDINGS FORTHCOMING…
**Study is currently full. If you are interested in the learnings, send me note and I will keep you in the loop!

Are you currently or have you experienced binge eating?  Are you curious to learn more about your experience? If so, consider participating in this experiential research study.

The purpose of this study is to learn more about the aspects of human experience (in this case, binging) that are often repressed, feared or treated.  Many accepted treatments aim to reduce or eliminate “destructive” and “confusing” behaviors, but studies show that many people who, for example, binge eat, continue to suffer emotional distress and struggle after treatment. We don’t seem to understand the uniqueness of binge eating well enough to provide good enough for people.  This study aims to learn more about the nuances of people’s experiences of binging.  The learnings from this study aim to speak to not just the experience of binging, but to various “destructive” and “confusing” human experiences that are repressed, avoided, or “treated.”

If selected, participants will have a one-on-one interview at their convenience and will participate in two group meetings. The first group meeting will require about six hours on a Saturday (lunch and snacks will be provided). This day, participants will use guided meditation, creative writing, and simple movements to creatively imagine interacting with their binging.  The second group meeting day will last about two hours. On this day, participants will be invited to share the meanings they have made from their research.

Currently, there is relatively little research on binge and compulsive overeating disorders, and even less on understanding the binging aspect.

Stay tuned for future research…I have big ideas, and I think you may find some of them quit fun and fascinating.
